ROTHBURY's Work Exchange Program offers opportunities to volunteer in exchange for a Weekend Ticket. For 2009, look for the following W.E.Programs:
ROTHBURY’s Green Team, powered by The Spitfire Agency, helps us raise the bar for sustainability at large scale event. Want to participate? Fabulous, we’d love to have you!
The W.E.Program requires that participants purchase a special Green Team Ticket to enter the event (not a normal ticket). The ticket cost is reimbursed to participants after all shifts are completed. If you want to work in the W.E.P., please do not buy a normal ROTHBURY Weekend Ticket (they are not refundable). Also, please do not by a W.E.P. Ticket from anywhere other than here at the ROTHBURY website. The only valid ROTHBURY W.E.P. partners are those who are reached by clicking the links from our website.
ROTHBURY is dedicated to producing as close to a zero-waste event as possible. Once again we have brought event greening experts The Spitfire Agency to work with us in establishing & attaining our goals. Together we are incorporating the highest standards of sustainability into every aspect of our production. For a better understanding of all that we are doing at the festival, as well as year round, please visit Our Commitment.
If you were at ROTHBURY in 2008, you probably have a good understanding as to just how far we take the on-site Greening. Our Waste Diversion Rate was a record breaking 94% of in the music festival grounds (meaning that 94% of what would have been trash, was captured on site, and then composted or recycled instead).
Producing a near zero-waste concert is a challenging task, even in our second year. While we are proud of our success, we do see room for improvement, especially in the camping grounds where our diversion rates were not quite as high (55%). So, with a lot of planning, a deep commitment to our environment, and some passionate staff & partners (like YOU!), we are setting out to raise the bar again.
Volunteering for the Green Team is a major commitment, and it is hard work. But it is incredibly rewarding work, and is a lot of fun too. Volunteering might be good for you if ALL of the following apply:
If all of the above applies to you, we’d love to have you involved. We have Green Team opportunities around the clock during the event, as well as during set-up & teardown days. Here’s a glimpse of some of the shifts we have:
Next Steps:
In order to join the team, you will need to visit our Green Team Ticketing Area and pay for a special, fully refundable ticket with a credit card. The Green Team ticket deposit is the same price as the general ROTHBURY Weekend Ticket - $249.50. This provides us assurance that you will likely show up and complete all three of your shifts. If you do, your credit card will be refunded immediately after the event. Additionally, there is a $30 non-refundable processing fee. This fee covers the costs of running the volunteer program. In short, if you complete your three shifts, you will spend $30 to be involved, and get into the entire festival, camping included. But please do not buy a normal ticket, as we cannot refund those. You will need to purchase your special Green Team Ticket by following the link below.
Selecting Your Shifts:
After you have paid your ticket deposit, you will be sent a password to our self-serve on line scheduling system. Passwords will be issued in waves beginning May 1. They will be issued in the same order that you paid your ticket deposits. This means that the sooner you pay your deposit, the better the chances are that you will get the shifts you most desire. Remember, we cannot promise any particular shifts, nor can we promise that you will be able to work pre or post event, with a certain friend, etc. This is a first come, first serve system – if the shifts are open when you get your password, they are yours to select.
Ready to sign up?
Please go to www.spitfireagency.com/rothbury to read further details and to view your volunteer agreement. Once there, you will find a link to purchase the special Green Team Ticket.
